The No Excuses Mentality

The No Excuses Mentality

As you practice each of these six beliefs you will undoubtedly encounter questions as well as frustrations along the way. You will experience times when you want to vent to your colleagues and throw up a surrender flag because of the challenges that many of your students are bringing with them. During those times, please know that this is normal. It’s in our nature to be disheartened from time to time, especially in an industry where so much is at stake. As you struggle, remember the difference between reasons and excuses. A reason offers examples for why a student is struggling in the first place. Reasons can be overcome. An excuse is made when defeat is accepted and all hope is lost. When dips in morale arise, don’t become jaded and allow your reasons to become excuses. Take the time to remember why you got into this business in the first place.
